Free NHS MenB (Meningitis B) Vaccine for Students - Book at Our Pharmacy

If you or your child is starting university or moving into shared accommodation this year, there's an important step to take before term begins - the free NHS Meningitis B (MenB) vaccine, now available at your local pharmacy.

What Is the MenB Vaccine and Why Does It Matter?

Meningococcal disease is rare but serious. It can lead to life-threatening illness and, in some cases, life-changing effects such as hearing loss, amputation, or brain damage. Around 1 in 10 cases is fatal. The bacteria that cause it can spread through close, everyday contact - which is exactly the kind of contact that happens when young people move into student halls, shared houses, and busy social settings. That's why the NHS has launched a time-limited MenB vaccination programme, and why we're proud to be one of the pharmacies offering the free meningitis B vaccine for students.

Who Is Eligible for the Free MenB Vaccine?

You can get the free vaccine via the NHS if you are:

  • In Year 13, completing school in summer 2026, and born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008 — whether you're heading to university, further education, or doing something else after school
  •  Under 25 and starting university, or moving into certain residential further education accommodation, for the first time this autumn The aim is to get eligible young people vaccinated before they move into shared accommodation, ahead of the higher-risk autumn and winter months.

How the MenB Vaccination Works

The vaccine is given as **two doses**, at least four weeks apart - You'll have a short consultation with one of our pharmacists first, to check your eligibility and make sure the vaccine is suitable for you - We'll also give you clear information on the signs and symptoms of meningitis and sepsis, so you know what to watch out for
